National Workshops on Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries in Sri Lanka and Maldives


The BOBP-IGO proposes to organise National Workshops on the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries in Sri Lanka and Maldives during October and December 2003 respectively. The objectives of the National Workshops are to facilitate a greater understanding of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries among all those concerned with fisheries in Sri Lanka and Maldives and to foster steps towards more effective implementation of the Code in the two countries and the sub-region.

The Workshop will be for three days each and the dates and venues are being finalised in consultation with the National Governments.

BOBP Video Film now available in Digitised form 

All the 20 video films produced by the BOBP in the past have been recently digitised and presented in a set of 5 CD-ROMs/ DVD-ROMs. The sets are available from the BOBP-IGO (Click here for more details)

BOBP-IGO hosts the Cross Visit of COREMAP Field Staff and Associated Members from Indonesia during 12 - 19 July 2003

A team of 12 Field Staff and Associated Members of COREMAP (Coral Reef Rehabilitation and Management Project) Indonesia  along with the COREMAP AUSAID Training Coordinator (Mr Robert Kingham) and a Consultant (Ms Melody Kemp) visited BOBP-IGO on an eight-day study tour. 

The team visited Chennai and Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), to study and interact with fisher groups in India on safety, survival and policy and social issues in small-scale fisheries. The exposure inter alia included machine safety, working with stakeholders to plan for safety, government responsibilities for fishing safety, etc.
