Reimagining Regional Fisheries Management: Participatory Approaches for Real-time Stock Assessment and Co-management

The immediate objective of the proposed programme is to develop a methodological framework for real time stock monitoring and assessment using remote sensing technology (RS) and machine learning (ML). The broader objective is to empower the community with reliable information on fish stocks to enable them in informed decision making and paving the way for their active engagement in fisheries management. The methodological framework once developed will be tested on a pilot basis to provide policy option for the member-countries. Publicly available ecological and environmental data along with fisheries data from the region will be used.
