Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and BOBP organized the India National Workshop to assist in preparation of the Full-Size Project (FSP) Document for the implementation of the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem Project Phase Two for India. Phase Two aims at sustainable management of fisheries, marine living resources and their habitats in the Bay of Bengal region for the benefit of coastal states and communities. In this backdrop, the overarching objective of the National Workshop was to agree on national priorities, the scope of work and collaboration for the implementation of BOBLME Phase Two. 29 participants representing concerned Ministries, Departments, R&D Organizations and non-state actors (CBOs, NGOs) took part. Mr Sagar Mehra, Joint Secretary (Fisheries), Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India chaired the Workshop. The Workshop recommended a set of actions based on the outcomes of four state-level consultations organized along the east coast of India and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during February-March 2019.
