The BIMSTEC-INDIA MARINE RESEARCH NETWORK (BIMReN)
A joint initiative by the Ministry of External Affairs of India (MEA) and the BOBP-IGO, BIMReN is a platform for facilitating collaboration among the researchers in the Bay of Bengal Region, for sustainable development of blue economy by networking the researchers in the BIMSTEC Member Countries.
Objectives of BIMReN −
- BIMReN will be a stepping-stone to implement networking amongst BIMSTEC countries.
- Recognize transboundary fisheries and collaboration.
- Expose students to marine fisheries research in India.
- Enhance research capacity for climate change & threats.
- Enable evidence-based fisheries management.
- Recognize traditional knowledge and cultural connectivity.
