FISHING FOR LIFE, A BOOK ON SRI LANKAN SMALL-SCALE FISHERIES, RELEASED AT THE 3RD WORLD SSF SUMMIT

Fishing for Life, a BOBP-IGO publication on small-scale fisheries in Sri Lanka, was released on the sidelines of the 3rd World Small-Scale Fisheries Summit (06 September 2026).

The first copy was presented by Dr P. Krishnan, Director, BOBP-IGO, to Prof. Manuel Barange, Assistant Director-General, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Written by Dr Oscar Amarasinghe and Kaumi Piyasiri, the book draws on their extensive experience in Sri Lanka’s marine fisheries, with a special focus on small-scale fisheries.

The publication offers key directions, guidelines and propositions to support planners, policy makers and managers in strengthening SSF. It is also an invaluable resource for fishing communities, resource managers, researchers, donors and all those associated with small-scale fisheries.
